There must be competition in Mobile phone payment Service: BASIS President
September 9 (Tuesday), 2014: Despite there are a number of Mobile payment companies in our country, a particular company has the maximum market share. So, in order to ensure better service for the subscribers, we have to create competitive market.

BASIS President Mr. Shameem Ahsan pointed out these aspects in a panel discussion titled ?Overcoming Barriers to the Successful Adoption of Mobile Commerce? at Dhaka Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) Forum.

He added that, Google, Facebook and Amazon are providing mobile payment service though they are neither Banks not Telecom service industries. So, the ICT service companies of our country should come forward to provide mobile payment service. Besides, Value Added Service (VAS) Guideline should be implemented in order to overcome the barriers in mobile content service. Then the common entrepreneurs will be able to invest in mobile content & application service.

The Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Nazneen Sultana presided over the program where Sonia Bashir Kabir, Country Manager, Microsoft, Bangladesh, Kamal Quadir, Chief Executive Officer, Bkash, Ziad Shatara, CEO, Banglalink, Kamaljeet Rastogi, Global Head, Business Development. Mobile Financial Solutions, Mahindra Comviva, India, Daniel Onyango Obam, Communications Radio Technology Expert, National Communications Secretariat, Kenya, Josephine Amuwa, Director, Policy, Competition and Economic Analysis, Nigerian Communications Commission, Rajesh Palit, Chief Technology Officer, Ethics Advance Technology Limited, Bangladesh, were also present at the program.
