BASIS in GITEX Technology Week, Dubai
18 Oct 2015
“GITEX Technology Week 2015”, the largest IT exhibition of Middle East and Africa, is being held from last Sunday (October 18). The exhibition commenced by Dubai World Trade Centre is being organized at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The 5-day event will continue till tomorrow, October 22, 2015.
Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) with the support of Export Promotion Bureau, is participating in the exhibition like previous year. Six BASIS member companies are partaking in the exhibition. Participating companies are: Code Knight Solutions, Free Software Solution, Genuity Systems Ltd, Mir Technologies Ltd, Reve Systems Ltd and Soft Tech Ltd. The member companies are showcasing their software products & services there.
This year in GITEX Technology Week, various leading IT organizations from Middle East, Asia and Africa are taking part including Google, Facebook, Alibaba, Coca cola, Bowing and BP. There will be conferences and demonstration of innovative products and services in the exhibition.
BASIS president Shameem Ahsan said, BASIS has been partaking in GITEX Technology exhibitions for one decade. Bangladeshi companies will get to be acquainted with international organizations through this event. They will also get the opportunity to familiarize their products and services to the international organizations. I hope it will open a window of opportunity to work with them increasing the export earnings.
BASIS Vice President and Director-in charge of Standing Committee on International Market Development, M. Rashidul Hasan said, Dubai has developed to be a hub for telecom software. Besides, Asia is the best market for software and ITES produced in Bangladesh. Hence it has become significantly vital for the Bangladeshi companies to participate in the annually held GITEX Technology Week. Companies that participated in earlier exhibitions of GITEX got to expand their business. And so, the number of Bangladeshi participatory companies have been growing each year. We expect similar reactions this year as well.
Heretofore, a press conference was arranged at the Consulate General office in Dubai regarding Bangladesh participation in GITEX Technology Week on last Saturday.  Consul General Masudur Rahman, Consulate Dr. Shah Mohammad Tanvir Monsur and Commercial Counsellor Dr. AKM Rafique Ahammed were present at the conference. Potentials and opportunities of Bangladesh IT sector including One Bangladesh Vision of BASIS were conveyed at the event.
