BASIS congratulates Mr. Abdullah H Kafi for being elected as the President of ASOCIO

BASIS is extremely happy to inform you that, Mr. Abdullah H Kafi, Managing Director of J. A. N. Associates, a BASIS member company, has been elected as the President of Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO). BASIS congratulates him for being elected as President of ASOCIO and for bringing pride to our country and our IT industry.


In the annual meeting of ASOCIO Board and ASOCIO Summit held on 15th November 2012 at Colombo, Sri Lanka, Mr. Kafi has been elected as the President of this organization for the term 2013-14. He served this organization as Vice President and Deputy President from 2006-2009 and 2010-2012 respectively. This is the first time, a Bangladeshi entrepreneur has been elected to lead such internationally prestigious regional IT forum.


Mr. Kafi has been involved with IT industry for over 30 years. His company J.A.N. Associates became a member of BASIS in 1999.


BASIS believes that, this will help Bangladesh ICT industry to brand itself at the global area.




ASOCIO is a grouping of IT industry associations from economies in the Asia and Oceania region. ASOCIO was established in 1984 with the objective to promote, encourage and foster relationships and trade between its members, and to develop the computing industry in the region. Presently, ASOCIO represents the interests of 29 economies, comprising 22 members from Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and seven guest members from USA, UK, Canada, Spain, Russia, France, and Kenya. Today, ASOCIO’s members account for more than 10,000 ICT companies and represent approximately US$350 billion of ICT revenue in the region. Under
