Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), the largest IT association of the country has held 1st meeting of its newly elected Executive Council (2016-2019). Mr. Mustafa Jabbar, newly elected President of the association presided over the meeting held on Saturday in BASIS board room.
Although the term for the new Executive Council began on July 15, 2016; the first meeting was held on July 16 (Saturday), 2016. Departing President Mr. Shameem Ahsan and Departing Treasurer Shah Imraul Kaeesh from the previous board were present in the meeting.
Also present were Russell T Ahmed, Senior Vice President of former and new Executive Council of BASIS; M Rashidul Hasan, BASIS Vice President of former and new Executive Council; Uttam Kumar Paul, former Secretary General and Director of new Executive Council and Mustafizur Rahaman Sohel, former Joint Secretary General and Director of new Executive Council.
From the new Executive Council Farhana A. Rahman, new Vice President of BASIS and Syed Almas Kabir, new Director of BASIS were present. Number of member companies congratulated the new board with flowers and by cutting cakes. After the meeting ended, the Executive Council got introduced to the officers from BASIS secretariat and interacted with them.
Current BASIS activities were assessed; and future plans and strategies, work plan submission for the FY 2016-2017 in ICT Business Promotion Council, preparations for the Digital World 2016 with the ICT Division, reconstruction of BITM Management Committee, progress of SEIP program under BITM, restructuring BASIS Standing Committees and BASIS Board Sub Committees among other issues were discussed in the meeting.
The newly elected Executive Council members thanked Mr. Shameem Ahsan for the developments in BASIS during his term. Similarly, the departing President expressed his hope that the highly experienced and skilled new board will continue the development process.
The installation ceremony of the newly elected Executive Council will be held in International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) on July 19 (Tuesday), 2016.
